Yoshi is a graduate of St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio where he was a two-time state champion in 1996 and 1997. He went on to wrestle for Roger Reina at Penn where he became a three-time EIWA champion in 1999, 2001 and 2002. He is a two-time NCAA All-American, finishing 7th in 2001 and 3rd in 2002 at 157 pounds.
During his college career, Yoshi helped lead Penn to the Ivy League wrestling crown four times; in 2002 Yoshi was honored by being voted the Ivy League wrestler of the year.
While at Penn, Yoshi placed 3rd at the 2001 Freestyle World Team Trials. He later placed 6th at the 2004 US Olympic Trials mini-tournament and won a University Freestyle National championship. He also holds a 1st degree black belt in Judo, was a seven-time Junior National Judo champion and a High School National champion.
Yoshi received a B.S. in Economics from Penn’s Wharton School, with a concentration in Management. He currently is a Director at Citigroup in the US Institutional Equity Sales Division. He serves on the Board of Directors of Beat the Streets, New York City, and resides in Manhattan with his wife and two daughters. In the recently produced award-winning movie, Foxcatcher, Yoshi plays the role of a Japanese wrestler.
