ANDREW BARTH, Columbia
’83 was a senior co-captain of the 1983 Lion
team, represented the NYAC in Greco and freestyle from 1980-85.
Upon graduation from Columbia Business School, Barth moved to LA to
work as a financial analyst for The Capital Group, a global
investment firm. As a research director, Barth oversaw Capital
Guardian Research’s development globally, now called Capital
International Research. He’s risen to Chairman of Capital
Guardian Trust Company and Capital International Limited, as his
leadership helped boost assets from $25 billion in 1985 to $1.2
trillion in 2011.
Andy was twice
elected to President of the Board of the San Marino Unified School
District from 1997-2005, as president, helping earn San Marino the
highest performance ranking in CA for seven straight years.
He’s received the John Jay Award from Columbia, the
International Medical Corporation Global Humanitarian Award and a
Golden Apple Award. In 2012, Andy received
the Outstanding American Award from the National Wrestling Hall of
Fame, in recognition of his career success and contributions to
wrestling. He endowed Columbia’s head coaching position, with
added major support to the program, the wrestling room and also
nationally on behalf of the newly dominant Titan Mercury Wrestling
Club.
