      *GEORGE FEUERBACH, Lehigh ‘52  is one of the four EIWA wrestlers ever to win three league titles at three weights, while amassing a stellar 37-5-1 career record. He became Lehigh’s third three-time EIWA champion by winning at 137 vs. two-time NCAA third, Penn State’s Gerry Maurey. The 7-3 win helped earn the Outstanding Wrestler Award. Feuerbach also beat Maurey, 8-1, in a road dual. Among George’s few defeats were two NCAAs bouts against national finalists and two bouts up a weight, including a 4-3 loss at 147 against national runner-up, Don Frey. After competing for renowned Spring Gardner at Mepham High, Feuerbach became captain at Lehigh.

      George was accomplished in freestyle and won a Junior Metropolitan AAU title and NY State AAU crown. He represented the NYAC at four National AAU championships. Lieutenant George Feuerbach joined the U.S. Air Force as a pilot and died in 1956, after an equipment malfunction caused a crash during a carrier takeoff.
