Two of the most iconic male student-athletes in Oregon State history will join an impressive roster of luminaries when Mike Hass (pronounced like pass) and Greg Strobel are enshrined into the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame. The ceremony is Sept. 21 at the Multnomah Athletic Club.

Hass, a native of Portland and graduate of Jesuit High School, was a two-time All-American (2004-05) after joining the football program as a walkon in 2001. The four-year letterman was the 2005 Biletnikoff Award recipient as the nation's top receiver. He concluded his illustrious career with what remains a school record for receiving yards with 3,924. He also left the program with the then-school record for receptions with 220 and co-led for touchdown catches with 20.  Hass was also the first player in Pac-12 history with three 1,000-plus yards receiving seasons. The OSU civil engineering graduate was a sixth round draft pick of the New Orleans Saints and currently is employed by Nike, Inc.

"Being from the state of Oregon and playing college football at Oregon State means a lot to me," Hass said. "I'm honored to be inducted into such a prestigious hall of fame and to represent the Beavers."

Strobel, from Scappoose, Ore., posted a 124-5-1 record (.958) during his career (1971-74) wrestling at 190 pounds. He led the Beavers to four top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships, Including second in 1973.  Strobel was a three-time All-American, two-time NCAA Champion and named the 1973 Most Outstanding Wrestler at the national championships.  He also was a three-time Pac-8 Conference and high school state champion.

In addition, Strobel was an outstanding college coach at Lehigh University and at the international level where he was named the 2009 USA Wrestling Man of the Year. He graduated from OSU with a bachelor's degree in business education and later with a master's degree in the same curriculum.  Strobel is currently an assistant athletic director at Lehigh after serving as the Mountain Hawks' head coach from 1994-2008.

"I am humbled and honored to be inducted into the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame & Museum," Strobel said.  "Growing up in Oregon,  Jess Lewis (two-sport OSU All-American) was my hero. I had the opportunity to follow in his footsteps. I am grateful for the opportunity to be coached by Dale Thomas and get a great education at Oregon State. It was truly a dream come true.  To join such greats as Jess, Robin Reed, Les Gutches and other Hall of Fame members is an outstanding honor."
