CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard wrestling pulled off an amazing victory Friday night against Columbia at the Malkin Athletic Center. The Crimson had many big wins in the 19-18 victory with none larger than
Dante Frinzi's victory over Angelo Rini. The first-year registered a fall 1:45 into the first period to deliver the Crimson a crucial six points. Harvard won the first five of six matches Friday evening on the way to the victory over the lions.
"That was a good win against a very good team," Head Coach
Jay Weiss said on Friday night. "I like how they are fighting and how different guys are stepping up. Dante got that big pin at 33 and Leo's overtime win were huge. Just have to keep getting better."
Harvard Highlights
- Philip Conigliaro started off the day at 174 with a 12-5 decision. The Junior helped stretch the lead with two takedowns late in the third period.
- Following the Crimson's early lead, Leo Tarantino delivered Harvard's second win of the evening in overtime with a takedown to give the Crimson an early 6-0 lead.
- Yaraslau Slavikouski who recently came in at No. 1 in the midseason RPI rankings at 285 delivered the Crimson its third victory of the night with a 7-1 decision.
- Diego Sotelo followed Slavikouski with a close 3-2 win over Nick Babin. The first-year won via riding time.
- The win of dual came next with Dante Frinzi who delivered the Crimson a massive six points with a fall in the first period.
Next Up
The Crimson face Hofstra tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. at the Malkin Athletic Center to close out the weekend. The dual will be streamed on ESPN+.
