Hofstra Falls To No. 6 Ohio State

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University wrestling team dropped its first dual match of the season, 51-0, to #6 Ohio State Sunday evening at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.

The Pride fell to 0-1 on the season as Ohio State improved to 4-0.The Buckeyes entered the match with all but one of their starting wrestlers nationally ranked.

Hofstra's young starters got valuable experience against top competition, with five Pride freshmen facing off against ranked opponents. In the 157 bout, freshman Frank Volpe put up five points, all on escapes, in a tough matchup against No. 17/15 Paddy Gallagher. Additionally at 285, graduate student Keaton Kluever, ranked No 20/12 also grabbed five points against a ranked opponent in No. 17/19 Nick Feldman.

Hofstra returns to action on December 1 and 2 at the Cliff Keen-Las Vegas Invitational.

Notes:
-The match was a homecoming for Ohio State coach and former Hofstra Coach Tom Ryan, who was inducted into the Hofstra Athletics Hall of Fame this past June.
