Wrestling Dominates Sacred Heart on Senior Day

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown wrestling dominated senior day with a 40-6 beatdown over Sacred Heart Saturday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

The Bears were in control from the start. Junior Sam McMonagle began the match with an 11-0 major decision win at 149, and his classmate Blake Saito secured the first fall of the day in 2:51 at 157.

Junior Keegan Rothrock then won by a 15-0 technical fall at 165 and freshman Dominic Frontino picked up a 10-1 major decision at 174. Fellow freshman Colby Isabelle notched his first collegiate victory with a 9-4 decision at 184, and senior Lear Quinton got his senior day win with a 4-1 sudden victory at 197.

Sophomore heavyweight Alex Semenenko then rolled to a pin in 3:35, sophomore Michael Joyce won by major decision, 12-1, at 125 and junior Hunter Adrian capped it off with a technical fall, 19-0, at 133.

The six points were awarded to Sacred Heart due to forfeit in the final match.

Prior to the match, Brown wrestling honored the careers of seniors Lear Quinton, Justin Bierdumpfel and Shane Hanson-Ashworth.

Brown now turns its attention to the EIWA Championships, which take place at Bucknell from March 8-9.
