BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Bucknell wrestling team concluded its weekend with a 1-1 day at Buffalo's tri-dual at the Pitt Center Sunday afternoon. The Bison earned a 36-7 win over Edinboro in the early match before dropping a hard-fought 21-9 loss against the hosting Bulls.

The dominant Bucknell (2-2, 1-0 EIWA) win over Edinboro was fueled by four pins, including three in a row at one point. The Bison trailed just once following a major decision by Edinboro's Aiden Lewis at 125. It was Bucknell's first-ever dual victory over the Scots, who previously led 4-0 in the all-time series.

Bucknell captured eight of 10 bouts against Edinboro, and its loss at 174 was to 26th-ranked Jared McGill. After the 4-0 deficit to start the match, No. 32 Kurt Phipps (133), No. 25 Darren Miller (141) and Kolby DePron (149) posted three consecutive pins to give the Bison a sizable 18-4 advantage.

After the Scots cut into the lead at 24-7, Logan Deacetis (184) added Bucknell's fourth pin over Edinboro's Joey Arnold to make it 30-7. It was the first of two big bouts for Deacetis, who added a win over a ranked opponent in the second dual. Nolan Springer (197) and Logan Shephard (285) rounded out the match with a pair of 3-1 decisions to help the Bison move to 2-0 on the weekend.

Luke Niemeyer (285) added another pin in an extra match following the victory.

The Buffalo dual, on the other hand, saw neither team score bonus points. A narrow contest throughout, the Bison held an early 6-3 lead following Phipps' 3-2 decision over Tommy Maddox at 133 and Dylan Chappell's 9-5 win over Matt Ryan at 141. Bucknell nearly extended its lead to 9-3, but Kaleb Burgess picked up a 4-2 win in overtime against DePron at 149.

Trailing 15-6, Deacetis picked up three more points for the Bison with an 11-7 decision over No. 24 Giuseppe Hoose at 184. It wasn't enough, however, as Buffalo picked up wins in the final two bouts, including a Greg Hodulick 3-1 sudden victory over Niemeyer at 285.

Braden Bower (141) added a 9-2 decision over Jack Marlow in extra matches as well.

Bucknell is off until New Year's Day when it travels to Chattanooga, Tenn. to take part in the annual Southern Scuffle.
