#18 Wrestling Dominates Brown on the Road, 39-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The #18 University of Pennsylvania wrestling team opened its New England road trip with a statement win, shutting down Brown 39-0 on Saturday afternoon.

It was a team victory through and through, as every weight class won its battle for Penn for the first time since the 2021-22 season.

How It Happened
Since shifting to 133, Miller has been on a roll, winning the individual title at Mat Town Open last weekend and topping Brown's Hunter Adrian by major decision today. A quiet first period had nothing on the junior, as he ramped up the offense in the second with two takedowns to lead 6-2 before adding an additional three in the final period to win the match 10-2 and give the Quakers a lead they would not give up.

Junior CJ Composto (141) won his third straight dual off a decisional win over Ian Oswalt (Brown). Though Brown struck first in the contest, #16 Composto prevailed, scoring six unanswered points to secure an 8-4 victory over Oswalt.

Andy Troczynski (149) capitalized on his first dual win of the year last weekend, bringing momentum into his bout with Nicholas Romero. The sophomore recorded a takedown in all three periods and rode out time to end the match with an 11-1 win by major decision.

#23 Lucas Revano (157) continued Penn's reign with a major decision win over the Bears' Blake Saito. The senior opened the match hot with three takedowns in the first two minutes to create a deficit too deep for Saito. Revano still had more fight left, taking down Saito two more times to claim an 18-6 victory.

Sophomore Kaya Sement (165) was the only Quaker to hold his opponent scoreless in the meet, taking down Dominic Frontino and wrestling hard defensively in the last four minutes to win by decision, 5-0.

Red-hot Incontrera kept his winning streak alive, claiming his eighth straight overall and seventh dual victory. Four takedowns split throughout the first and third period over Brown's Jonathan Conrad solidified a 16-2 major decision win for the junior captain.

#17 Hale continued his stellar dual reign, claiming his seventh victory from a win over Nick Oliveri. The junior won the sole tech fall contest of the meet, scoring 11 points in the second, with nine coming from takedowns before shutting Oliveri down in the third, adding ten more points to the board to win the match 21-5.

First-year Cosgrove won his match by injury default over James Aranio. Cosgrove held a 14-2 lead in the second period of the match before Aranio had to leave due to an injury.

Heavyweight John Stout (285) won his second straight dual from a late takedown in the third period of his battle with Alex Semenenko to claim the contest by decision, 4-1.

Penn's final win of the meet came from #32 Max Gallagher's battle at 125. The freshman got to work early, taking down Mike Joyce (Brown) in the first two minutes while adding two extra points to the board from regaining control of Joyce early in the third to clinch a 5-1 decisional win and the Quakers' largest dual win of the year.
