The Dragons Earn their Second EIWA Victory

LANCASTER, Pa. – Drexel dominated in a 23-13 triumph over Franklin & Marshall, in Lancaster, Pa. on Friday night. DU earned its 16th straight dual victory against the Diplomats, and improved to 18-2 against its EIWA opponent. The Dragons moved to .500 on the year at 4-4 and are 2-0 against their conference.
Kyle Waterman, Jordan Soriano, Luke Nichter, Tyler Williams, Evan Barczak, and Brian Bonino led Drexel to success with wins in their individual weight classes.
F&M started off the bout with a hard-fought victory at 125. Waterman powered to a 6-2 decision with two takedowns to earn Drexel's first win. Jordan Soriano came out firing, earning a takedown in the first minute of the 141 lb bout. He continued to battle against Phillips and came out on top, 8-6. Nichter dominated in a 10-2 major decision. Williams and No. 27 Barczak both secured technical falls to extend the Dragon's lead 20-3.
In the upper weights, Cody Walsh earned a riding time point but fell short in a 4-3 decision in favor of the Diplomats. This ended a run of five consecutive victories for the Dragons. At 184 lbs, No. 25 Bonino led 3-1 after the first period on a takedown and escape point. An F&M escape in the third period was not enough as the graduate student held on to win 3-2. Franklin & Marshall won the next match in a major decision at 197. In the final dual of the night, an escape by each wrestler in regulation forced the match to sudden victory. Under a minute into extra time, Santino Morina was issued his second stall warning and his match ended in a 2-1 defeat.
