Wrestling Falls on the Road at No. 11 Oklahoma State in Season-Opening Dual, 38-6

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Bucknell wrestling team challenged itself with a trip to 11th-ranked Oklahoma State for the season-opening dual Friday night, and the Cowboys prevailed 38-6 at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Oklahoma State, with seven nationally-ranked wrestlers in its lineup, scored bonus points in five bouts. Bucknell's six points came by way of injury default in the 174 matchup.

The Bison saw solid efforts by Braden Bower (141) and Nick Delp (157), who both held early leads in their matches, and Dorian Crosby's heavyweight bout with No. 18 Konner Doucet went down to the wire to end the evening.

Bower scored a first-period takedown against Oklahoma State's Tagen Jamison and led 4-0 early in the second, but Jamison ended the match on a 10-1 run. The story was similar at 157, as Delp's first-period takedown and escape at the start of the second had him leading Jalin Harper 4-0. Delp maintained a lead a 4-3 until three seconds remained in the second frame when, upon video review, Harper was awarded a two-point near fall to go up 5-4. Harper's lead remained throughout a scoreless third period, and Oklahoma State extended its team score to 20-0 halfway through the evening.

In the final bout of the evening, No. 32 Crosby challenge No. 18 Konner Doucet, and the two wrestlers were separated by just a point heading into the third period with Doucet on top. A stalling penalty evened the score at 1-1, but Crosby was unable to escape in the third and Doucet's 1:51 of riding time gave him the 2-1 decision.

Bucknell's six points came at 174 pounds, as Myles Takats won by injury default just 2:34 into the first period.

The Bison are back in action on Saturday for a 2 p.m. dual at Oklahoma Wesleyan.
