Hempstead, NY – Hofstra's Charles Small, Trey Rogers, Zachary Knighton-Ward, and Ricky Stamm each won a pair of matches on the day as Hofstra split EIWA dual meets against Harvard and Sacred Heart Saturday at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center. Hofstra fell to Harvard, 24-19, before rebounding to defeat Sacred Heart, 37-15. Small also had a third win in an exhibition match.

Hofstra moves to 3-11 overall and 2-5 in the EIWA with the split. Harvard is 2-4 overall and in conference while Sacred Heart falls to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the EIWA.

The Pride won the first three weight classes against Harvard as Small started things off with a win by injury default over Leo Tarantino, who was injured 3:44 into the 184-pound bout. Rogers, at 197, followed with a win by fall at 1:30 mark over Luke Rada. Knighton-Ward put the Pride up, 15-0, with a 15-8 decision over Jeffrey Crooks at 285.

The Crimson rallied to take the next five weights to take a 20-15 advantage with two classes remaining. Ricky Stamm pulled Hofstra within one, 20-19, with a major decision at 165-pounds over Alex Whitworth. However, Harvard's Josh Kim majored Ericson Velasquez in the final match of the dual, at 174-pounds, to seal the win for the Crimson.

Hofstra started fast in the nightcap against Sacred Heart, jumping out to a 17-0 lead after the first three matches. Small opened with a win by fall at the 3:19 mark against Sebastian Ford. Rogers followed with a 27-12 tech fall in 5:37 at 197 against Logan Michael. Knighton-Ward won by forfeit at 285 to end the Hofstra run.

Sacred Heart's Jacob Venezia won by fall at 125-pounds and Anthony Petrillo followed with a decision victory at 133 to make it 17-9 in favor of the Pride. But unlike the first match, Hofstra stopped the slide with four straight wins, including back-to-back tech falls to seize control of the dual. Justin Hoyle won at 141 over Chris Naegele, 18-3, and Michael Leandrou followed with an 18-2 win at 149 over William Bianchi in 5:19. That gave the Pride a 27-9 lead. Joe McGinty won by fall at 157-pounds over David Tufankijian in 2:40, and Stamm major decisioned Ryan Bollentino, 16-3, at 165 to make it 37-9. The Pride forfeited the 174-pound class.
