Drexel Falls Short to Wisconsin, 26-11

PHILADELPHIA - Jordan Soriano, #31 Cody Walsh and Santino Morina were victorious against Wisconsin as Drexel fell short to the B1G opponent, 26-11, on Saturday evening at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The Dragons fall to 1-3 and look to build upon the three individual victories as they get closer to EIWA action. 

The Badgers claimed the first two matches by major decision at 125 and 133lbs to take an 8-0 advantage. Jordan Soriano scored a takedown early in the first period and never relinquished the lead as he defeated Felix Lettini by decision 8-2. The sophomore cut the Wisconsin lead to 8-3 at the first break. 

UW was victorious in the next bout, going up nine points over the Dragons. At 157lbs, Tyler Williams entered the third period down 1-0 to Luke Mechler. Williams could not score after taking multiple shots in the third period and fell in a close matchup, 4-0. #31 Walsh started his match off strong as he collected eight near-fall points in the first period. The redshirt junior picked up the victory by technical fall, 21-2 in the closing seconds of the second frame. The win cut the Badgers lead to seven with four matches to go. Wisconsin claimed the 174lb weight class. 

Following the final media break, Jack Janda earned the start at 184 pounds against #28 Max Maylor. Janda jumped out to an 8-1 advantage at the end of the first period. In the next frame, he continued his success to go up by seven with two minutes remaining. Janda fell short in the final minutes of the match as Maylor collected three takedowns and four near-fall points to avoid the upset. 

In the upper weights, Ibrahim Ameer entered the third period at 197lbs down by two to Shane Liegel. He was able to tie the match at five after a reversal with 50 seconds to go. The Badger was able to earn a point after Ameer chose to restart the bout at neutral. The Dragon was unable to score and dropped the bout by one. In the final match of the night, Santino Morina dominated and won by decision, 5-0. The redshirt senior scored on a takedown, escape and riding time point.
