Drexel Falls to #11 Cornell, 32-12

PHILADELPHIA –Drexel wrestling fell short against the undefeated #11 Cornell Big Red on Sunday afternoon. The Dragons dropped to 5-7 overall and 4-3 in the conference, with only two matches left in the regular season.

Evan Barczak led things off for the Dragons at 165lbs with a 4-1 decision over Cornell's Jake Brindley, giving Drexel an early 3-0 advantage. Barczak improves to 18-6 on the season and 6-1 against EIWA opponents.

With a big takedown to kick off the 174lb bout, Mickey O'Malley tallied six points for Drexel after Cornell's #12 Chris Foca registered a medical forfeit. With the win, O'Malley remains undefeated in conference matchups, 6-0.

The Big Red followed with four straight victories, including three from ranked wrestlers, opening the gap to 19-9.

Jaxon Maroney came up big at 133lbs, edging #30 Dom LaJoie in a 5-4 decision to keep Drexel in the hunt. However, Cornell secured three wins at 141lbs, 149lbs and 157lbs, sealing the deal on a 32-12 victory.
