PHILADELPHIA – The Dragons were within two team points after a Jaxon Maroney triumph at 133 lbs but it was not enough as they dropped a tough EIWA match to Army, 20-12 on Saturday night at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. DU's record stands at 9-5 and 6-1 versus the EIWA.

Maroney, No. 16 Evan Barczak, Sean O'Malley, and Santino Morina earned victories in the bout.

Army came out strong winning by major decision at 157. Barczak battled in a tight matchup at 165 and was victorious 4-0. At 174 lbs, it was No. 5 Mickey O'Malley against No. 16 Ben Pasiuk in a nationally ranked matchup. Pasiuk bested O'Malley in a 5-3 decision as Drexel was not able to find a takedown late in the third period which would have tied the match at five. In the 184 class, Brian Bonino's dual lasted into TB1. He was not able to earn any points after choosing to go neutral which gave Army a point and ultimately the 2-1 victory.

A takedown in the second period ignited a win at 197 lbs for O'Malley. At heavyweight, Morina entered the third period down 1-0. After he was able to earn an escape point, the redshirt junior sent the match to sudden victory. Morina was able to find a takedown in extra time to earn the 3-1 victory. The success cut Drexel's deficit to 10-9 after six matches.

Army claimed a decision in the 125 weight class. Maroney earned a takedown in the third period which lead to a key 3-0 decision with two matches to go. The triumph cut DU's deficit to 14-12. Jordan Soriano scored eight points against Sanchez at 141lbs but was not able to come out on top as he fell 11-8. Heading into the final match of the night, Army held the advantage 17-12. No. 30 Luke Nichter was defeated by Trae McDaniel, 3-0, in a contested match.
