CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –– Harvard Wrestling took on the Sacred Heart Pioneers in its first home dual meet of the year on Saturday. An energetic Crimson side nearly swept the Pioneers on the day, earning a 43-3 victory and improving to 3-1 in duals. The Pioneers, meanwhile, fell to 1-9.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Senior 165-pound wrestler Joshua Kim led off the match with a tech fall win over Scotty Jarosz, earning him his 10th win of the season. A huge suplex take down in the second period helped him take over the match.
• Senior 174-pound wrestler Philip Conigliaro continued his impressive season with another tech fall win, beating Owen Ayotte, 18-2.
• Senior 184-pound wrestler Peter Ferraro wrestled in his first match of the season, beating Nicholas Eboli in a dominant tech fall win, 17-2. 
• Junior 197-pound wrestler Alex Whitworth made his presence felt on the mat, winning by tech fall over Jake Trovato, 15-0.
• Senior heavyweight Nick Marcenelle won his first match of the season in a back-and-forth battle against Sacred Heart's Marc Berisha. Marcenelle edged out the win, 7-6.
• Junior 125-pound wrestler Diego Sotelo won by forfeit.
• Sophomore 141-pound wrestler Dante Frinzi came out of the gates hot, earning him a huge lead and eventually emerging with 12-1 major-decision victory over Vincent Milazzo.
• Sophomore 149-pound wrestler Jack Crook earned his 10th win of the season, making quick work of Sacred Heart's Michael McGhee. Crook won by tech fall for the second time this year, 23-6.
• Sophomore 157-pound wrestler Jimmy Harrington got the job done to end the match, earning a victory over Conor MacDonald by tech fall, 19-4.

UP NEXT

Harvard will face Ivy League foe Cornell on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 12:00 p.m., on the road. Later that day, the Crimson will face Binghamton at 6:00 p.m., in Vestal, New York.
