FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Several close matches went against the Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team in its Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association meet with American on Wednesday. The Pioneers dropped a 41-3 decision to the Eagles.

The loss dropped the Pioneers to 0-7, 0-3 in the EIWA, while the Eagles improved to 3-4 and 1-1 league.

Facing his former team,
Andrew Fallon narrowly lost at 133 pounds. Jack Maida got an escape in the second sudden victory period then avoided Fallon in the third overtime for the win.

The riding time advantage for
Matt Laurie forced his 149-pound match against Antonio Segura to overtime. In the extra frame, Laurie came through with a takedown to secure the 5-3 triumph. Unfortunately, the Eagles won the next six bouts to claim the team victory.
