Four Lions earn wins at Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Four Lions earned wins in Sunday's dual at Army as the team suffered a 25-13 setback against the Black Knights. No. 23 Lennox Wolak's win over Army's No. 10 Ben Pasiuk was the highlight of the afternoon as Wolak has now posted wins in six of his last seven matches.

"It was a really cool environment to be on the West Point campus," Wolak said. "Huge respect to their team and program. It is very cool and an honor to compete with our military. Our team came up on the wrong side of the team score but effort was good and we had a lot of guys step up into the lineup and give it their all. A couple more adjustments and we will be consistently knocking off these teams."

Pasiuk used a takedown to take an early lead over Wolak in the first period of the 174 bout. Wolak bounced back to take an 8-3 advantage heading into the second period. Pasiuk pulled back within two points with about a minute to go in the third period, but Wolak held on to finish off a 10-7 decision victory.

"I was excited to have the last match of the dual to hopefully close it out for the team," Wolak said. "At the time of my match the dual was out of reach so it was all just about performing for myself and representing the team."

Sunday's dual started at 184, so No. 31 Aaron Ayzerov took the mat to lead off the Columbia lineup. Ayzerov rolled in an 11-0 major decision win against Daniel Lawrence. Today's major decision marks back-to-back major wins for Ayzerov after he defeated West Virginia's Dennis Robin a week ago.

No. 28 Jack Wehmeyer continued the early momentum for the Lions in the 197 bout as he took an 8-2 decision victory over Wolfgang Frable. With two early wins, Columbia held a 7-0 lead to start the dual.

Army battled back with a major decision win at 285 before Nick Babin (125) and Sulayman Bah (133) were pinned. With three wins and the help of bonus points, Army held a 16-7 lead at the halfway point.

Kai Owen snapped the Army streak with a win over Rich Treanor in the 141 bout. Treanor jumped out to an early lead before Owen responded to take a 5-3 lead after the first period. Owen finished off a 9-5 decision win to put the team back in contention for the dual victory.

Army rattled off three consecutive wins to clinch the dual victory before Wolak finished the afternoon with his win. Richard Fedalen (149), Jaden Le (157) and Andrew Garr (165) were each defeated by decision.
