Wrestling Defeat Drexel, 35-8 on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team made its finals appearance in The Palestra for the 2021-22 season. On a day in which the Quakers honored the Penn Wrestling Senior Class of 2022, The Movement showed up and dominated, defeating their 33rd Street neighbor, 35-8.
 
Prior to the meet, Penn honored the senior class of Neil Antrassian, Greg Bensley, Jake Hendricks, Willy Kaiser, Blair Orr, and Josh Swason. The Quakers also honored two members who couldn't be in attendance, Grant Arnoff and team manager Eva Faenza.
 
Kaya Sement got the start for the Quakers at 149 pounds and procced to put make a statement with a pin, giving Penn the early 6-0 lead. #20 Doug Zapf quickly followed that up with an 8-3 decision and #21 Lucas Revano defeated #24 Evan Barczak to push the home teams lead to 12-0. As time ran out in the second period of the 174 bout, Mickey O'Malley cut Penn's lead in half as he pinned #18 Nick Incontrera. #31 Neil Antrassian got Penn back in the winning column as he won by a 15-12 decision.
 
#31 Cole Urbas and #28 Ben Goldin went back-to-back with falls, giving Penn a 26-6 lead. #20 Ryan Miller picked up another win for Penn as he defeated Antonio Mininno by a 7-3 decision. Kelly Dunnigan made the start at 133 but ultimately lost by a 7-4 decision. Drexel was deducted a team point for unsportsmanlike conduct, making the score 35-8. #12 CJ Composto won by forfeit giving the home team a 35-8 victory.

Penn will close out the 2021-22 regular season with a trip to American on February 20. Then the Quakers will get ready for the postseason with the EIWA Championships in Ithaca, N.Y., March 5-6, followed by the NCAA Wrestling Championship in Detriot, March 17-19.
