BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The LIU wrestling team produced a decisive win in its 2023-24 home opener.
The Sharks defeated visiting Bloomsburg, 31-8, at Pratt Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon.
Robbie Sagaris (125 pounds) and
Christopher Betancourt (133) set the tone with early wins.
Devin Matthews then won by technical fall, 16-0, over Major Lewis at 141 pounds to stake the Sharks to an 11-0 lead.
When Bloomsburg later pulled within 14-8,
Blake Bahna proceeded to pin Josh Bonomo at 174 pounds for six points.
Anthony D'Alesio (184), John Duzsa (197) and
Aeden Begue (285) closed the match with decisive wins.
LIU next hosts Edinboro on Dec. 22 at 4 p.m. at Pratt Recreation Center.
