WASHINGTON - It was a tough night for American University wrestling against the 16th-ranked Navy Midshipmen (6-0), as the Eagles (4-4) dropped every bout in a 38-0 loss. American had strong chances in a couple of early bouts but was not able to put points on the board.

Notable

• Starting things off, Shamil Kalmatov scored early and often against Navy's Dayton DelViscio. Despite three takedowns in the match, Kalmatov came up short 11-10 after an unsuccessful challenge by American at the end.
• Maximilian Leete made it exciting at 133 against #22 Brendan Ferretti, and had it tied 1-1 after seven minutes of action. In sudden victory, Ferretti ended it with a quick takedown for a 4-1 win.
• There was another close bout at 184 pounds for Connor Bourne, who wasn't able to score but held #27 David Key to just an escape and riding time in a 2-0 loss.
