Drexel Falls to Ohio, 21-13

VINCENT, Ohio – Drexel was victorious in four matches against Ohio in the inaugural meeting between the two programs, but fell short, 21-13, on Saturday night. At 174lbs, Jack Janda won a 5-2 thriller to upset No. 18 Sal Perrine. Additionally, Desmond Pleasant, John Hildebrandt, and Jordan Soriano were triumphant for the Dragons.
Drexel started the dual on a high note as Desmond Pleasant scored from multiple takedowns and a reversal on his way to an 11-7 decision. At 133lbs, John Hildebrandt sealed a victory on a takedown late in the second period. Jordan Soriano claimed DU's third consecutive match by major decision to help Drexel take an early 10-0 lead.
OU secured bonus points in the next two matches, narrowing Drexel's lead to 10-8 at the halfway point. At 165 lbs, No. 31 Cody Walsh matched up against No. 11 Garrett Thompson, the Bobcat scored in the third period which gave Ohio the advantage with four matches left. Jack Janda's takedown late in the second period allowed Drexel to retake the lead, 13-11. Ohio added three points to the scoreboard following the bout at 184lbs. Ibrahim Ameer battled against Austin Starr but his comeback in the final minute fell short by a point.The Bobcats closed the dual with a win at heavyweight.
