Wrestling Falls to Bucknell, 24-10

PHILADELPHIA - Desmond Pleasant, Dom Findora, and Tyler Williams won their bouts but the Dragons fell to Bucknell, 24-10 on Sunday afternoon in the DAC. Drexel drops to 1-3 in the EIWA. 

The first match of the bout was between Desmond Pleasant and Kade Davidheiser. Pleasant scored four takedowns and two escapes for an 11-4 lead headed into the final frame. The redshirt sophomore won by a major decision to give DU a 4-0 lead. Bucknell won the next two matches to take a 7-4 lead.  

Dom Findora took the mat at 149lbs against Riley Bower. The Downingtown, Pa. native took down the Bison twice for a 7-2 advantage with one frame to go. Findora scored his third takedown on his way to a 10-4 victory to stop the Bison run and tie the team score at seven. In the next match, Tyler Williams battled Aiden Davis in the first period but the bout was scoreless after one. Each wrestler earned an escape from the bottom position and the match entered sudden victory. Ten seconds into overtime, Williams took a shot and was able to earn a takedown and the victory. The win gave Drexel a 10-7 advantage at the halfway point. 

At 165lbs, Cody Walsh was matched up against #12 Noah Mulvaney. The Bison held a 7-1 lead into the final period. Walsh battled back with a takedown and escaped in a short time to cut the lead to 8-5 after Mulvaney escaped. Drexel challenged that Walsh earned a takedown in a short time but the officials concluded there were no points scored and he fell 8-5. 

Jack Janda started strong with two takedowns in the first period at 174lbs. Bucknell battled back with a takedown and escape point but Janda maintained his lead, 6-5. Takats scored a takedown and Janda escaped to tie the match at eight but was unable to score again and lost by riding time, 9-8. 

Justin Griffith earned the start at 184lbs against Mikey Bartush. The true freshman held a 1-0 lead after five minutes of play. Bartush scored a takedown late in the third period to defeat Griffith, 5-1. Bucknell won at 197 lbs by bonus points to take a 21-10 lead. Santino Morina kept #27 Dorian Crosby on his toes with an early takedown. Morina was up 3-1 at the end of the first period. Crosby came back to score on two takedowns to win by decision.
