YORK, Pa. – The Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team made a valiant effort against Penn State on Saturday, but the second-ranked Nittany Lions were too much for the Pioneers. Penn State prevailed, 47-3, at the Spooky Nook Complex.

Sacred Heart falls to 1-1 while the Nittany Lions start the year with a win.

Penn State jumped out to a 21-0 lead with Anthony Petrillo (133 pounds) and Jordan Carlucci (141 pounds) taking on the number one and two ranked wrestlers in the nation, respectively. Six of Penn State's 10 wrestlers are ranked in the top five of their weight class.

The lone Sacred Heart victory came at 157 pounds as returning NCAA qualifier Nick Palumbo beat Joey Blumer, 8-3.

Sacred Heart stays in the Keystone State Sunday for the Journeyman Classic.
