BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The LIU wrestling team honored four seniors, welcomed back alumni and routed Sacred Heart in the final home match at Pratt Recreation Center this season.
After recognizing seniors
Joe Lopresti,
Devin Matthews,
Drew Witham and
Rhise Royster and their families, the Sharks defeated Sacred Heart, 41-3, on Tuesday night.
James Johnston at 165 pounds, Cory Connolly at 174 and
John Dusza at 197 all pinned their opponents, while Royster won by technical fall over Connor MacDonald at 157 pounds.
Robbie Sagaris (125) took the opening match by forfeit. Matthews (141), Witham (149) and
Anthony D'Alesio (184) all won by decision, while
Aeden Begue capped the night at heavyweight with a sudden victory over Marc Berisha.
Midway through the night, the Sharks recognized a bevy of alumni who returned.
LIU next heads to the EIWA Championships on March 8 and 9 in Lewisburg, Pa.
