Hempstead, NY - Hofstra and Drexel split the 10 individual weight classes, but Drexel had more bonus poimt victories to give the Dragons a 19-16 Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association win over the Pride Sunday afternoon at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center.
Hofstra fell to 3-5 overall and 1-5 in EIWA action with the loss. The Dragons, winners of eight consecutive matches, improved to 9-4 overall and 6-0 in league matches.
The match started well for Hofstra, as the Pride won the first three bouts, including a pair in sudden victory.
Jacob Moon got things started at 125 pounds with a 7-5 win in extra time over Antonio Mininno.
Chase Liardi followed with a 9-1 major decision over John Hildebrandt at 133 pounds.
Justin Hoyle closed the streak with a 6-4 overtime win against Jordan Soriano at 141 pounds.
Drexel responded with five consecutive wins, including two major decisions and a tech fall to take a 19-10 lead. No. 24 Luck Nichter won a major over
Michael Leandrou, 11-0, followed by a 10-0 major decision from Tyler Williams over
Joe McGinty. No. 18 Evan Barczak tech falled
Eric Shindel at 165, 21-6, in 6:26, to make it 13-10. No. 5 Mickey O'Malley scored a 6-2 decision over
Ross McFarland at 174 pounds, and No. 27 Brian Bonino won 3-1 over
Jacob Ferreira in another sudden victory result to close out the scoring for the Dragons.

Trey Rogers posted a 6-3 decision at 197 over Sean O'Malley and
Zachary Knighton-Ward scored an 8-3 decision over Santino Morina at 285. Knighton-Ward looked for a fall but could not get Morina on his back.
Hofstra will be back in action with a pair of road matches on Saturday, February 11. The Pride will face Harvard at 12 p.m. and then Sacred Heart at 7 p.m.
