BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU wrestling team took on Binghamton at home Saturday afternoon, winning four matches, but falling to the Bearcats, 28-13.
SHARK BITES
- Junior Rhise Royster opened the day with a win at 157 lbs to get the Sharks started. He beat Tyler Martin with a 4-2 decision that put LIU up 3-0.
- Binghamton won the next five matches, including three pins, to widen the lead to 24-3.
- Freshman Robbie Sagaris was the next Shark to take a win, as he beat Nick Curley at 125, in a close 5-4 decision.
- Sophomore Devin Matthews had a major decision win at 141, where he beat Christtian Gannone 11-3.
- And the Sharks capped the day with an exciting match at 149, where sophomore Drew Witham beat Nick Lombard in a battle, 14-13 to close the day with a win for LIU, and a 28-13 team decision for Binghamton.
- Up next, the Sharks head south to take on Davidson and the Citadel, Sunday, January 30.
