Hofstra Falls To Binghamton

| By:
Hempstead, NY - Noah Tapia and Jurius Clark scored victories for Hofstra, but Binghamton used four bonus point victories over the last five bouts to pull away in a 31-6 victory over the Pride Friday night at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center. Hofstra slipped to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in EIWA action with the loss. The Bearcats are 7-3 overall and 6-2 in the EIWA.

The Bearcats won the first three bouts of the night by decision to take a 9-0 lead in the match. Tapia put Hofstra on the board at 149 pounds with a 11-6 win over Michael Zarif. Clark followed at 157 with a thrilling 4-1 win over Fin Nadeau. The Hofstra red-shirt freshman scored a takedown in the waning seconds to snap a 1-1 tie.

But that would be the lone Hofstra victories as three tech falls, a decision, and a major decision by the Bearcats resulted in 22 unanswered points for the visitors.

Hofstra will next be in action on Saturday, February 17 when it travels to California for a pair of matches at Cal Baptist University. The Pride will face Cal State Bakersfield at 6 p.m. (EST) and Cal Baptist at 9 p.m. (EST).
