VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton wrestling won six of ten bouts, including three with bonus points to take down Drexel 25-13 Saturday evening in the West Gym. BU started the match with two straight wins, and finished by winning four of its final five. Joe Doyle, Lou DePrez and Anthony Sobotker all won with bonus points.
"We are definitely seeing improvement from our guys," head coach Kyle Borshoff said. "There is always more to build on, but I am happy with how we are progressing. These upcoming EIWA matches will be a nice test for us."

Ryan Anderson kicked things off at 141 pounds with a hard-fought 4-2 decision over Jared Donahue. The sophomore was able to rack up ride time after two takedowns to win. He has won five straight bouts and is 9-5 this season.

At 149 pounds, Nick Lombard continued his own winning streak with a 4-0 decision over Tyler Williams. The senior used a takedown, escape, and ride time point to get his 14th win of the year.

BU fell in three straight matches (two decisions, one major decision), but rebounded at 184 pounds. Cory Day rode out Josh Stillings in the second period, which ended up being enough for the 1-0 decision.

No. 12 DePrez dominated his matchup against Santino Morino. An array of takedowns and back points carried him to a second period technical fall. He is now 19-3, and a winner of six straight bouts.

No. 20 Doyle replicated DePrez's effort, getting a technical fall in the second period as well. The heavyweight had one takedown to start the bout, and turned his opponent a number of times in the first period. Leading 10-0 after one, he continued his dominance en route to a 17-0 win.

After a close loss at 125 pounds, BU led 19-13 heading to the match's final bout. Sobotker took control early, and led 5-1 in the second period before ending things with a pin. His opponent turned into a headlock, and Sobotker threw him to the mat for his nation-leading 11th fall of the year.

Collin Burns added a pin against Drexel's Liam Dietrich in an extra match.
