COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Three individual wins were the highlight for American University wrestling in a road dual at Air Force on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles lost 33-11 to the Falcons overall, getting a technical fall at 133 pounds and wins by decision at 157 and 197.
Notable
- Coming back from a month out due to injury, sophomore Raymond Lopez looked very strong at 133 pounds and earned a technical fall win by a score of 25-9 over Brenden Barnes.
- At 157 pounds, freshman Gage Owen posted a 6-2 win over Brooks Gable for his first dual-meet victory.
- The Eagles' third and final win was a gritty one by sophomore Liam Volk-Klos who defeated Calvin Sund, 12-11. The final takedown by Volk-Klos came with less than 40 seconds remaining, and with Sund having nearly a minute and 40 seconds of riding time at that point.
- Volk-Klos held on for the entire rest of the period to put Sund's riding time at just under a minute by the final buzzer and preserve his 12-11 lead.
