Wrestling Concludes Weekend with 25-9 Loss to Navy

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell wrestling team wrapped up its weekend with a 25-9 loss to Navy in Davis Gym Saturday afternoon. The Bison took down two ranked grapplers and won three bouts overall, but the Mids proved too much as Bucknell moved to 6-7 (4-3 EIWA) on the season with the loss.

Navy opened the dual with four straight decisions to take a 12-0 lead. As was the case Friday night against Columbia, Dorian Crosby got the Bison on the board first with a 5-3 decision over No. 19 Grady Griess. It was Crosby's fourth win over a nationally-ranked opponent, and he remains undefeated in duals this season at 9-0.

Kurt Phipps (133), who is ranked himself at No. 23 by Intermat, also defeated No. 31 Brendan Ferretti to get the Bison within 10 at 16-6 with three bouts to go. It was Phipps' eighth win in a row, and he improved to 27-8 on the season.

Another battle between two ranked wrestlers at 141 saw No. 33 Darren Miller suffer a 4-3 loss to No. 30 Josh Koderhandt, and the Mids would later seal the dual with a second-period pin at 149 pounds.

Bucknell would pick up one more win in the final bout, as Nick Delp won 7-2 over Devon Deem. It was Delp's first dual since December.

Bucknell returns to Davis Gym on Friday to host Lehigh at 7 p.m.
