January 13, 2023 | Wrestling

Patrick Glory, Quincy Monday and Travis Stefanik were all winners Friday night at FloWrestling's headquarters in Austin, Texas, as Oregon State took the team dual 22-9 over Princeton.

Glory, ranked No. 2 in the nation began the night with a 7-2 win over No. 19-ranked Brandon Kaylor at 125 in a rematch of a 2022 NCAA quarterfinal bout that Glory also won. This time, Glory had an escape and a takedown in each of the first two periods and added the riding time point, all after Kaylor had a takedown less than 30 seconds into the match.

Oregon State responded with a run of four straight wins to take a 13-3 lead at the halfway point. At 133, No. 18-ranked Jason Shaner of Oregon State had two takedowns in each period on the way to a 14-7 win over Sean Pierson. At 141, No. 26-ranked Cleveland Belton put his team in front 7-3 with an 11-2 win over Danny Coles, using three takedowns and a near fall over the first two periods to build an 8-1 lead. At 149, OSU's Riley Gurr responded to an early takedown from Rocco Camillaci with an escape and a takedown in each of the first two periods on the way to a 7-3 win, and at 157, OSU's Isaiah Crosby was a 13-6 winner over Ty Whalen, also responding to an early takedown with one of his own in the first and adding four more before the match was done.

Monday stayed perfect at his new weight of 165, following his sweep through the Midlands tournament with a win over No. 21-ranked Matthew Olguin, getting a takedown late in the first period and answering a match-tying takedown for Olguin in the closing seconds of regulation with his own takedown 28 seconds into extra time for the win.

Oregon State took the next three matches to clinch the team win. At 174, No. 29-ranked Aaron Olmos had a takedown in the second and the third on the way to a 6-2 win over Kole Mulhauser. At 184, though Nate Dugan had a takedown off the start of the match, No. 11-ranked Trey Munoz had two of his own in a 6-3 win, and at 197 in a match of ranked wrestlers, OSU's No. 18-ranked Tanner Harvey had a takedown at the final whistle to defeat Princeton's No. 20-ranked Luke Stout 3-1.

Stefanik closed the night with a big first period on the way to an 8-3 win over J.J. Dixon, getting two takedowns, including one right off the start, and a two-point near-fall over the bout's first two minutes.
