Wrestling Wins Black Knight Invite

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point wrestling team took home the Black Knight Invite crown on Sunday afternoon at Christl Arena with a total of 121.5 point and seven top-three finishers.
 
Braden Basile placed second after beating a top 15 opponent in the semifinals of the 133 weight class.
 
Dalton Sheehy came in second in 174 after upsetting the no.1 seed DJ Shannon from Michigan State in the semifinals.
 
Ethan Berginc placed second after an impressive showing in the 125 weight class. 
 
Army had two finalists in 149, Matthew Williams and Thomas Deck,  but they did not compete against each other in the final bout. Williams knocked off No.28 ranked Zach Price of Gardner-Webb to reach the finals.
 
Lucas Stoddard and Nate Lukez both earned third place finishes in their respective weight classes.
 
Danny Lawrence and Rich Treanor each picked up a fourth place finish as well.
 
Next up for the Black Knights is the Cougar Clash on Saturday Dec. 2 at SIUE.
