Drexel Wins Against LIU and George Mason

 BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Dragons were victorious in 14 of 20 bouts in two big wins in the LIU Duals on Saturday at LIU. DU earned bonus points in six matches with four of these wins by fall. Mickey O'Malley, Sean O'Malley, Santino Morina, Kyle Waterman, Jordan Soriano all earned triumphs against the Sharks and the Patriots in the tri-match. 
 
Drexel is 8-4 and 5-0 against the EIWA as it heads into the last two weeks of dual competition before the postseason. As of February 3rd, the Dragons are ranked No. 17 in the NWCA Division One Mid-Major Coaches Poll.
 
Against George Mason, Tyler Williams opened the match at 157 in a George Mason decision. Barczak put Drexel on the board with a 14-3 major decision. M. O'Malley dominated as he pinned Coughlin in 57 seconds as DU went up 10-3. The Patriots earned a close decision at 184. S. O'Malley joined his brother as he also pinned his opponent in the first period. In the 285 weight class, Morina won by decision 2-1 through a riding time point to claim his first dual victory of the season. At 133, GMU forfeited, which gave Waterman his 10th triumph of the year. Soriano earned his fourth dual success against Glasl. George Mason won at 149 to close out the match.
 
Against the Sharks, the Dragons dropped the first bout at 157 in a close 2-1 decision. Cody Walsh earned the fall at 165 in 2:25 and clinched DU's first points. The victory started a five-match winning streak for the Dragons from 165 to 285. Bonino was victorious at 184 and won by pin in 4:02. The Sharks were successful at 125. Waterman and Soriano were successful in their decisions. In the final bout at 149, No. 24 Nichter was victorious 5-2 earning his points through a takedown and reversal.
