PHILADELPHIA - Five Dragons defeated F&M in their bouts but it was not enough as Drexel fell to the Diplomats, 22-16 on Saturday night. Gabe Giampietro, Dom Findora, Tyler Williams, #33 Cody Walsh, and Santino Morina came out on top. Drexel falls to 7-9 and 4-4 in the EIWA.

The dual started at 125lbs as Gabe Giampietro took the mat for the Dragons in his first dual this year. The redshirt freshman dominated as he won by major decision, 10-1. F&M was victorious at 133 by decision and 141 by fall which gave them a 9-4 lead at the first media intermission.

At 149lbs, Dom Findora's takedown in the first frame helped power him to a 4-1 victory and cut the Diplomats advantage to 9-7. Tyler Williams needed at least a decision to reclaim the team's advantage. The fifth-year senior battled and took down Dominic Wheatley in sudden victory for a 4-1 win. Cody Walsh earned almost two minutes of riding time and scored on a takedown to earn back-to-back decisions for the Dragons. Drexel held a 13-9 advantage with four bouts remaining. At 174lbs, Jack Janda and Noah Fox battled as the score stood at one all through regulation following escape points. After many unsuccessful shots by Janda, Fox was able to take down the Dragon with six second remaining in the extra period to bring the Diplomats within one.

Justin Griffith's match at 184lbs was scoreless after the first period but he was unable to come out on top as he lost by bonus points to #19 James Conway. Ibrahim Ameer was matched up against #29 John Crawford. The Dragon battled with Crawford and was down 11-6 after two periods. With 18 seconds on the clock, the score stood 14-7 in favor of the Diplomats. Ameer escaped after an F&M takedown with 25 ticks on the board to go. Ameer was successful on a high crotch and took down Crawford. It looked like Ameer was on his way to at least back points but the Diplomat rolled through and pinned DU with four seconds left. The victory clinched the dual for F&M. At heavyweight, Santino Morina ended the night on a high note for Drexel with a 2-0 decision.
