Penn freshman Max Gallagher (125) scores two big wins to earn EIWA Wrestler of the Week.

On Friday evening in Lehigh's "Snake Pit," he beat an experienced and former EIWA placewinner Sheldon Seymour in a tightly contested match.  The final verdict was a 4-1 SV win following a beautiful single leg takedown in overtime.

On Sunday in the Palestra, Gallagher faced Stanford's No. 12 Nico Provo. After falling behind 6-1 in the first, Gallagher prevailed in the second, getting an escape and takedown to trail by one heading into the third. Both grapplers exchanged points in the third, pushing the score to 8-8 to force sudden victory. Gallagher once again proved his worth in overtime by scoring his third takedown of the match to beat #12 Provo by decision, 11-8. At one point earlier in the season Provo had been ranked No. 1 in the nation, so this was a truely huge win for the Penn freshman!
