The EIWA coaches have selected Vito Arujau as the 2024 EIWA Wrestler of the Year.

Arujau earned the honor on the back of his second NCAA individual title, where he stormed through the field before wrestling a lengthy battle with 4x NCAA finalist Daton Fix from Oklahoma State.

After a 2023-24 season battling several injuries and missed time on the mats, Arujau came from a 6th seed to earn the NCAA crown. He posted major decision victories in his first four matches, including a 13-3 victory over 2x All-American Kai Orine of NC State in the quarterfinals.  In the semifinals Arujau faced EIWA foe Ryan Crookham of Lehigh. Crookham was the only wrestler to have defeated Arujau this season, once at the Journeyman Classic in November and then again in the EIWA Championship finals.  In the third meeting of these EIWA opponents, Arujau looked exceptionally sharp on his feet, earning a 13-3 major decision victory over Crookham.

In the finals he faced Daton Fix, a fellow World Championship medalist, in a 21 minute marathon match. The match was halted several times due to bleeding injuries suffered by both wrestlers and more than one challenge by Oklahoma State. After the delays and loss of several challenges, Arujau emerged with the victory, earning his second NCAA Championship crown.

Arujau finishes his wrestling career at Cornell with four All-American honors (4,3,1,1) along with two EIWA and NCAA Championship titles.
