Wrestling Defeats American in Regular-Season Finale, 36-7

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team took to the road for its final dual meet of the regular season. Penn defeated American in Washington, D.C., 36-7 on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Quakers finish the regular season with an 8-2 overall record, including an 8-1 record in EIWA action.  
 
Ryan Miller opened the afternoon off with a 5-0 decision. American's Jack Leete won by a 5-2 decision over Blair Orr at 133 pounds tying the team score at 3-3. However, that would be the closest American would come to the lead as Penn won the next seven bouts. #11 CJ Composto, #20 Doug Zapf, #21 Lucas Revano, and #18 Nick Incontrera all won by major decision. Anthony Artalona got back to his winning ways as he posted a first period pin over Patrick Ryan. He wasn't the only one to get a pin as #27 Cole Urbas also posted a first period pin over Mervin Mancia.
 
Six ECM's took place following the dual meet. Artalona also wrestled in an ECM on Saturday night prior to American's dual meet against Maryland.
 
149: Over the course of the weekend, Artalona picked up three EMC victories. The first came Saturday night, winning by tech. fall, 19-2. He followed that up with another tech. fall in the first ECM, and then closed out the day with a first period pin (1:05) on Sunday.
 
165: Jake Stefanowicz won by a 5-1 decision.
 
174: Cam Connor was pinned in the first period and Mikey Kistler lost by a 9-3 decision.
 
197: Cole Urbas won by tech. fall, 18-3.
