LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell posted a commanding 38-4 win over LIU at Davis Gym early in the day before making the three-hour trip to Lawrenceville, N.J., where it took down Rider 19-15 Saturday evening for a strong start to a busy weekend. Bucknell improved to 6-4 (4-1 EIWA) with the pair of victories.

The Bison ceded just one bout en route to its 34-point win over the sharks. After LIU won by major decision at 125 pounds to open the day, Bucknell collected all 38 points in succession.

Darren Miller (141) and Dorian Crosby (285) each posted pins, and Mikey Bartush (184) secured the first tech fall of his career as the trio combined for 17 team points.

Bucknell also saw exciting finishes to the 149 and 157 bouts in the early dual. Kolby DePron scored an overtime takedown for an 8-6 sudden victory, and Riley Bower also won with a late takedown after sitting tied at 1-1 heading into the third period.

Phipps, Bower, Chase Barlow, and Crosby all went 2-0 on the day, as Bucknell came from behind to defeat the Broncs in the nightcap. Bucknell found itself trailing 11-4 early on at Rider but used a 12-0 run to take the lead before Crosby sealed the victory in the final bout.

Phipps pulled off a late takedown as time was winding down in the third period to secure a 12-4 major decision that kept the Bison within a point of Rider at 5-4, but the Broncs rattled off back-to-back wins with two of their three ranked wrestlers to extend the deficit to 11-4.

The Bison responded, as Bower (157), Barlow (165), Barnes (174) and McCready (184) picked up four straight decisions.

Foreshadowing the Bison comeback, Barlow erased a 5-2 deficit in his matchup with Hunter Mays and scored a takedown in the final minute of the third period to win 7-6. Rider would also come back, however, as No. 10 Ethan Laird grabbed a major decision in the penultimate bout to get the Broncs within one at 16-15, leaving the dual in the hands of the heavyweights.

Crosby, tasked with defeating No. 33 David Szuba, pulled out a 7-4 decision in his third victory over a nationally-ranked opponent this season. Crosby improved to 5-0 in duals.

Bucknell is back in action on Sunday for an EIWA matchup with Army in West Point, N.Y.
