
Drexel Rolls Past Binghamton, 23-10, on Alumni Day

PHILADELPHIA - The Dragons took down Binghamton Saturday night, 23-10, in front of a packed Daskalakis Athletic Center as Drexel celebrated Alumni Day. DU now improves to 5-8 on the season and 1-1 in EIWA conference play. DU celebrated alumni day as the 1985 wrestling team that won the East Coast Conference Championship was honored at halftime.
Giuseppe Hoose closed things out as he earned the reversal in the final minute of the third period against No. 25 Will Ebert, taking the 3-1 decision win. Ibrahim Ameer, Desmond Pleasant, Kyle Waterman, No. 32 Jordan Soriano, Luke Nichter and Jasiah Queen all saw their hand raised in victory.
The contest began at 197 pounds, as Ibrahim Ameer recorded his third win of the season, and his first at the DAC over Cayden Bevis. The senior blocked an early attack in the first period, rebounding to get a takedown to finish the first on top, 3-0. Ameer managed to take his Bearcat opponent down, recording three more points to extend the lead to 6-0. The St. Louis, Missouri native was able to record two more takedowns in the final period, on way to a 13-2 major decision win.
Desmond Pleasant stayed hot as he defeated another ranked opponent. At 125 pounds, Pleasant battled No. 33 Carson Wagner to the final buzzer. The lightweight was able to get a takedown in the second period to take the lead 3-1. After one escape point for each wrestler, the Redshirt Junior fought off an attack by Wagner in the final few minutes. Pleasant sneaked his way out of a pin attempt and was able to escape with a 4-2 decision win.
Kyle Waterman followed with another three points for the Dragons. After taking a 2-0 lead after five minutes, Micah Roes earned a quick five points to put Waterman in the hole down 5-3. The Redshirt senior fought his way back, quickly attacking off the reset to score the takedown and the win, 6-5.
Soriano picked up another comeback win for the Dragons at 141 pounds. After falling behind 4-0, Soriano earned a takedown in the second and an escape point to open the third to tie things up at four a piece. The Junior took control after that, recording a takedown on his way to a 8-4 decision win.
Nichter also won in dominant fashion, recording two takedowns in a 9-3 decision win. Nichter has now won five of his last six dual matches.
Jasiah Queen made his season dual debut in the DAC at 174 pounds, clinching the win for the Dragons on the night. The Elizabeth, New Jersey has continued to impress in his redshirt freshman campaign. Queen picked up the 13-4 major decision win over Roberto Padilla. Queen has now earned bonus points in all four of his victories this season.
In the final matchup of the contest, Hoose defeated No. 25 Will Ebert in the final seconds of the third period. With the match tied at one, Hoose was able to reverse from underneath Ebert and score the two points. The graduate student held on to get the 3-1 decision win.
