Wrestling Notches Dual Win at Morgan State

BALTIMORE – On the eve of the Army-Navy Football Game in Washington, D.C., fans looking for an early dose of Black Knight action only had to make the quick drive to Baltimore to see Army West Point Wrestling compete at the Morgan State Bears Friday night.
And for the Army supporters in attendance at Hurt Gymnasium, they would not be disappointed, as the Black Knights rode seven bonus point wins on their way to a convincing 43-6 win.
Army moved to 4-1 in duals in 2024-25 and notched their first win of EIWA competition, with Morgan State wrestling their first match as a member of the conference in their EIWA debut year.
Each of the first six bouts were determined in bonus point fashion for Army.
Charles Farmer wasted little time in the opening bout, taking a win by technical fall, his third of the season. The Black Knights took a 5-0 lead and never allowed the Bears to get closer.
Ethan Berginc followed with his third fall of the season and commenced a run of three consecutive falls for the visitors.
Braden Basile's fall at 141 lbs one match later was his first of the season, before Trae McDaniel notched his team-leading 15th win of the season, also by fall.
Dakota Morris allowed no points in his shutout, 15-0 technical fall at 157 lbs, before Gunner Filipowicz moved to 12-2 in matches this year by securing a fall just 2:18 into his bout at 165 lbs, the fourth for Army Friday night.
Andrew Christie secured his first dual bout win at 184 lbs, with an efficient 7-0 decision. Wolfgang Frable then continued his strong season at 197 lbs with the team's third technical fall Friday, earning his eighth bonus point win of the season.
