Niceville, FL - The Hofstra wrestling team concluded its stay at the 2021 Journeymen Collegiate Wrestling Duals with a 33-9 defeat to #22 Northern Iowa from Raider Arena on the Northwest Florida State College Campus in Niceville, Florida. Hofstra sees its dual match record slip to 2-6 following the loss to the Panthers.

#26 Trey Rogers scored team points for Hofstra with a 5-3 decision over Noah Glaser at 197 pounds. Rogers scored an escape in the second round to go ahead 1-0, and he took down Glaser twice in the third period to secure the win in the low-scoring bout towards the end of Hofstra's dual.

Hofstra pulled ahead with six points after Northern Iowa (1-4) forfeited 125 pounds, but the Panthers reeled off wins in the next seven weight classes to put the match out of reach for the Pride. Hofstra lost close decisions at 174 pounds and 285 pounds. Ross McFarland was defeated, 6-2, against Pat Schoenfelder, and #20 Zachary Knighton-Ward suffered a 4-2 loss to Tyrell Gordon.

The Pride will be back in 2022 with four consecutive home duals. The homestand will begin against Bucknell on January 8 at 3:30 p.m. from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.

NOTES:
-This was the fourth meeting in Hofstra wrestling history against Northern Iowa. The all-time record against the Panthers now stands at 1-3.
-With today's win, Trey Rogers now has 49 wins for his career. He needs one win to join Ricky Stamm (58 wins) as the second active Hofstra wrestler with 50 career wins.
