Drexel Powers Past Brown 31-6

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel dominated 31-6 against Brown in its return to the DAC on Saturday afternoon. This marked the program's 11th win against its EIWA opponent. At 165lbs, Evan Barczak earned the only pin on the afternoon in 6:29. Drexel upped its record to 6-4 overall and 4-0 against the EIWA. 
 
The Dragons won eight of ten bouts in the match. Desmond Pleasant, Kyle Waterman, Jordan Soriano, No. 26 Luke Nichter, No. 19 Barczak, No. 5 Mickey O'Malley, No. 27 Brian Bonino, and Sean O'Malley recorded victories.
 
DU started off the match with a 6-0 lead after a forfeit by the Bears. Kyle Waterman wrestled a decisive victory 5-1 in TB1 to put the Dragons on the board. In his match at the end of regulation, the score was tied 1-1. TB1 contained two coaches' challenges, one by each team which were both unsuccessful. Waterman earned a takedown and a reversal to clinch the match. The Dragons swept the next two weights in decisions by Soriano and L. Nichter.
 
At 157, T. Nichter dropped a thriller by decision 4-2. Evan Barczak won by fall in 6:29, which brought the DAC to its feet. The Dragons now held a 21-3 advantage after six bouts. M. O'Malley returned to the mat in a matchup against Clearie. The redshirt senior earned a crucial takedown late in the third period which tied the match at four. O'Malley won with a riding time point in a gritty 5-4 decision.  Bonino secured a major decision at 184 and S. O'Malley was successful 7-3. At 285, the true freshman, Dom Petracci attained the start for the Dragons. He was unable to break a late tie at 1-1, as Brown earned the 3-2 decision to close out the dual.
