NEW YORK – Aaron Ayzerov earned the only bout win of the afternoon at 184 as the Lions lost to No. 5 Cornell, 30-3 on Sunday afternoon in Levien Gym. Columbia is now 3-6 overall in duals this season and 3-2 in EIWA duals.
 
Jack Wehmeyer got the day started at 197 for the Lions. He was defeated by No. 16 Jacob Cardenas in an 8-2 decision. Billy McChesney followed that up in the heavy weight bout with a 5-0 decision loss to Cornell's Brendan Furman.
 
Nick Babin fought until the end, but lost to No. 8 Brett Ungar, 2-1 in the 125 matchup. No. 26 Angelo Rini then was defeated in a major decision by No. 2 Vito Arujau as Cornell jumped out to a 13-0 lead through four bouts.
 
No. 24 Matt Kazimir rallied late, but fell short in a 5-4 decision loss to No. 11 Vince Cornella at 141. Coming out of the intermission to recognize Columbia's alumni wrestlers, No. 33 Danny Fongaro lost via major decision to No. 1 Yianni Diakomihalis.
 
Cesar Alvan followed that up with a 6-4 decision loss to Cole Handlovic at 157 via sudden victory as Cornell extended its lead to 23-0. David Berkovich took the mat for the first time in conference action at 165. He lost a 5-2 decision to Benny Baker. No. 26 Lennox Wolak then dropped a major decision to No. 4 Chris Foca at 174.
 
Ayzerov wrapped up the afternoon with his 4-2 decision win over Ethan Hatcher at 184 to put the Lions on the board.
