WASHINGTON - The final score doesn't really tell the story of what was a very tight dual when looking at individual bouts, as American University wrestling fell 24-9 to Lock Haven (7-6) but all eight losses were decided by five or fewer points. The Eagles now stand at 7-9 for the season, and will turn right around to host Air Force at noon on Sunday.

Notable

• The Eagles were right there in every single bout, and lost one in sudden victory as well as two others that were decided by two or fewer points.
• The highlight of the match for American was a 4-3 win for redshirt sophomore Jack Nies at 157 pounds. Nies scored a takedown each in the first and second periods, with the second putting him on top for good against Ashton Eyler.
• Redshirt junior Connor Bourne looked strong early against Brad Morrison at 197 pounds, but Morrison went down with an injury after 44 seconds and Bourne took the win by medical forfeit.
• The Eagles' Caleb Campos kept it tight against #32 Avery Bassett, and after seven minutes each wrestler had just a single point by escape. Bassett was able to take it late in sudden victory with his first takedown, handing Campos a 3-1 loss.
• Three of AU's other losses also came against ranked opponents, including #11 Anthony Noto at 125 who won 5-2 over Maximilian Leete. It was the second time Leete has kept it close against Noto this season, after also falling 6-4 in sudden victory at the Navy Classic.
