Dragons Power Past American, 26-16

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Dragons picked up their second dual win of the year on Sunday afternoon, taking home a 26-16 victory over American. Several big victories by Drexel helped the team improve to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in EIWA competition.
The Dragons took early points from the Eagles with a forfeit at 125 lbs. AU answered back at 133 lbs as Jack Maida took a close one-point decision from Jaxon Maroney.
Jared Donahue secured his third fall victory of the year against AU's Ethan Szerencsits, recording a new season best fall time at 56 seconds. Both teams continued to trade points as the Eagles punched a win at 149 lbs.
Parker Kropman and Evan Barczak opened the scoring for the Dragons, notching back-to-back wins at 159 lbs and 165 lbs. Kropman secured his 12th victory by decision of the year over Segura, setting the pace for Barczak to follow. The Dragons 165 pounder put up a dominant 15-0 technical fall victory, his first this season. With the pair of victories, Drexel improved its advantage to 20-6 with four matches to follow.
Despite taking loses at 174 lbs and 285 lbs, Bryan McLaughlin and Santino Morina helped the Dragons maintain their lead with two decision victories. McLaughlin progresses to a perfect 2-0 in EIWA matchups while Morina improves to 2-2.
Drexel is set to host a heavy lineup of conference matchups next weekend as they welcome Hofstra, LIU and nationally ranked Cornell to the DAC on Feb. 5-6.
