- Binghamton wrestling fell to No. 24 Appalachian State at Varsity Gym on Sunday afternoon.
Jacob Nolan and
Cory Day each picked up wins for the Bearcats. Nolan cruised to an 8-0 major decision victory at 184 pounds, while Day earned a victory by fall at heavyweight with 26 seconds left in the third period. Binghamton has now wrestled four ranked opponents on the season.
Highlights
- Jacob Nolan pitched a shutout against Luke Uliano scoring a few takedowns en route to an 8-0 win. The riding time point for Nolan allowed him to pick up bonus points for the Bearcats. Nolan is now 9-5 on the season with a 6-3 record in duals.
- Cory Day won an entertaining bout at heavyweight. Day controlled most of the first period with an early takedown, but Mason Fiscella was able to get a reversal to tie the bout at 2-2 before the period ended. Day had a quick escape to begin the second and he led 5-3 going into the third. Late in the third period, Day displayed his dominance on top locking in a power-half to turn Fiscella and secure the fall with 26 seconds left in the third period.
