BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Despite several good efforts, the Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team couldn't come through with a victory at the WrestleMania Duals. The Pioneers went 0-3 on Saturday.
The three losses dropped Sacred Heart to 0-4
The Pioneers nearly took down LIU, but lost the tiebreaker that gave the Sharks the 19-18 decision. SHU fell 39-0 to Army and 50-0 to No. 21 Rutgers.
Against the Sharks,
Andrew Fallon picked up a 24-8 tech fall for his first win as a Pio. Sacred Heart got three wins in the middle of the match to establish a 14-6 lead. Aiden Zarrella came through with the 4-0 shutout at 165 pounds. At 184 pounds,
Hunter Perez notched a 19-11 major decision against Gavin Claro to push the SHU advantage to 18-9. Unfortunately, LIU won the last two matches, including a pin at 197 pounds that broke the tie for the team score.
Sacred Heart stays in Bethlehem for the Journeyman Open on Sunday.
