Black Knights Garner Three Wins, Fall to No. 12 Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. --- Army West Point Wrestling (0-4) battled against No. 12 Rutgers (10-0) and picked up three wins, but ultimately fell 26-9 to the Scarlet Knights on Friday night at Jersey Mike's Arena.
Rutgers got the early lead over Army winning the four opening matches. Ryan Chauvin held his own in the opening bout, only losing 8-6 to Dylan Shawver. Though the Black Knights had a slow start, they went on to win three straight bouts starting with a 6-1 decision from Markus Hartman. Dalton Harkins then battled in the 165 weight class and picked up a 4-2 decision over Andrew Clark to cut Rutgers' lead to 15-6.
Clayton Fielden collected the third win for Army at 174 lbs., winning 5-3 over Connor O'Niell. In response, the Scarlett Knights won the next two bouts to re-extend their lead to 23-9. Ben Sullivan was the final Black Knight to compete, keeping the bout tied at 0-0 with Boone McDermott after the first period. Sullivan took the lead in the second period but was even with McDermott again at the third sending it to sudden death. Sullivan fought, but ultimately fell 3-1 to his opponent.
