New York, NY/Garden City, NY Kyle Mosher, Chase Liardi, and Frank Volpe each went 2-0, while Nikolas Miller was 2-1 as Hofstra won two of three dual matches Saturday. The Pride picked up an EIWA win over Morgan State (27-19) and a win over Nassau Community College (45-4) at Nassau's Main Gym. Hofstra started the day with a 32-10 loss at Columbia. 

Hofstra moved to 4-3 overall on the season and 2-0 in the EIWA. Columbia is 2-2, while Morgan State is 2-8 overall and 0-5 in the EIWA. Nassau CC is 0-3.

In Hofstra's opening bout at Columbia, Mosher, Liardi, and Jurius Clark picked up wins for the Pride. Mosher got the day started on a high note with a 4-1 win at 165 pounds over No. 27 Cesar Alvan. However, Columbia would win the next five weights to take a 23-3 lead. The Lions scored two falls and a tech fall in the run to take control. Liardi put the Pride back in the win column at 133 with a 12-3 major decision over Boris Witmer. But Columbia got wins at 141 and 149 by nationally-ranked wrestlers before Clark closed the match with a 5-4 decision at 157 pounds over Dominic Rossetti. 

Against Morgan State, Hofstra ran off five consecutive victories after losing the opening weight class by fall. Liardi (133) started the run with a major decision before Justin Hoyle (141) followed with a fall to put the Pride on top to stay. Noah Tapia (decision) at 149, Volpe (major decision) at 157, and Mosher (fall) finished the win streak for the Pride, who led 23-6 following the 165-pound match. The Bears kept things interesting with wins at 174 and 184 to get within 10 points, 23-13, with two weights remaining. But Miller scored a huge major decision over Cameron Johnson to seal the Pride's victory. 

Hofstra coasted past the Lions of Nassau CC, winning nine of the 10 bouts plus an extra match. Seven of the eight contested weights won by the Pride were bonus point victories including falls from Matthew Waddell (174), Gavin Proffitt (184), and Miller (197). Gauge Shipp (141) and Volpe (157) added tech falls, while Danny Church (285) and Dylan Zenion (149) scored major decisions. Dylan Acevedo won his match via forfeit. In the extra match, which did not count in the team score, Teague Strobel picked up a 16-14 decision over Shane Dobbins. 

Hofstra will have a long break before returning to action on January 9 at Binghamton with a 2 p.m. start time.
